I have to say that I love the Greek mythology; it has always caught my attention. I like the way how they explain everything associated with the Gods and the knowledge and intelligence of discovering many things about our world.
One of the stories that I can remember now is about the birth of the winter. If my mind works fine (and Wikipedia is right xD), the story told that the wonderful Persephone, daughter of the Goodness of the Earth Demeter, was absorbed by Hades, God of the Underworld, to be his wife, obviously she didn’t want to. For that reason, Hades tricked Persephone and gave her the food of dead, some seeds that made that she stayed there forever with him in the underworld. The poor Demeter missed so much her daughter and for that she didn’t care the Earth and the flowers and trees began to die. Zeus very concerned for the Earth, decreed that Persephone had to spend six months with her husband in the underworld and six months with her mother. This is why, we have today the cold winter-autumn (because Persephone is away from her mother) and the beautiful spring-summer (because she is with her mother?).
Well, I’m sorry for Persephone and Demeter, but I enjoy so much when she is suffering in the underworld :|
